Cherry Valley Festival 2013
Saturday June 15th
10am to 5pm
Event Description for News Releases
This year the third annual Cherry Valley Festival 2013 is being presented by the Brodhead Watershed Association (BWA) and the Josie Porter Farm, home of Cherry Valley Community Supported Agriculture (CSA). This event has grown and had over 800 attendees last year with an expectation of over 1000 to attend this year.
On Saturday, June 15, the third annual Cherry Valley Festival will be held to celebrate the unique natural environmental qualities of the valley and raise awareness of conservation efforts underway. This year the community outreach event is organized by the Brodhead Watershed Association (BWA), a non-profit organization committed to enhance public understanding of water issues. BWA has a strong record of accomplishment insuring that the local community protects and enhances its high quality water resources. In addition, this year will feature “Bird the Ridge – Conservation through Observation”, a public outreach program presented by Audubon PA.
This will be a fun-filled day with family activities designed for the participation of children and adults. This event will highlight the value of the natural resources within the Pocono Region and will be a wonderful opportunity for visitors to embrace these resources and interact with organizations that support and protect the region. Local crafters and food producers will be present to sell and promote their products and talents.
Planned events include educational speakers, demonstrations, live music, family activities, and environmentally themed vendors, arts and crafts. In addition, there will be food and beverages available, a variety of raffle items, and a silent auction with proceeds benefiting the BWA. There will also be nature walks and Josie Porter farm tours. Live entertainment will include acoustical music throughout the day provided by the Pocono Bluegrass & Folk Society.
The event will run from 10 AM to 5 PM, rain or shine with plenty of parking and a golf cart shuttle available from the parking field to the main event area. Admission is free! However, donations and memberships supporting BWA’s work will be appreciated the day of the event and collected the Information tent. Directions and more information on the Farm and the Festival are available on the Farm’s website: http://www.josieporterfarm.com/
